  • What age can my child visit the museum without adult supervision?

    Children 12 and under require an adult to accompany them around the museum at all times. Unattended children may be eaten by raptors (Just kidding we don't have raptors).

  • Can I come dig in the quarry?

    Our quarry digging experience, available from May to October, will be an exciting add-on to your museum visit, weather permitting. It promises to be a unique and rewarding activity for visitors of all ages.

  • Do you offer free parking?

    Free parking is available in the parking lot located in front of the museum. Overflow parking is available farther along Mosasaur Way.

  • Is the museum wheelchair accessible?

    The museum is fully wheelchair accessible. There are no steps leading up to the museum's entrance and there is an elevator to move between levels. There are also accessible restrooms on both levels of the museum.

  • Can I bring my dogs/animals?

    Service animals and service animals in training are welcome on museum property. Pets and comfort animals are not permitted on museum property. According to the ADA, "service animal" means any dog individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability.

  • Do you have a lost and found?

    Any lost items turned into the museum team will be collected and stored for 30 days. Please ask any museum employee or contact us at info@efm.org regarding any lost items.

  • How long does it take to experience EFM?

    Everyone experiences EFM at their own pace. Guests who engage with all of the many interactive elements or take the time to read all of the text panels could end up spending several hours in the museum! With our understanding of the world around us constantly evolving and the variety of ways EFM delivers information, repeat visits are recommended to fully enjoy all that the museum has to offer.

    Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

    1. For general admission tickets: Child tickets are for ages 3-12. For family Memberships, children can be aged 3-18. 2 & under is free for both general admission and Memberships.

  • How long can I stay in the museum?

    Guests are welcome to enjoy visiting the museum until closing time each day.

  • Do you offer museum passes at libraries?

    At this time we do not offer any library pass programs.

  • What payment methods do you accept?

    We accept all major credit cards throughout the museum and on our website. Cash is accepted in both the Quarry Grounds Café and the Darwin & Co. museum store.

    1. Due to the demand for admission, we are requiring timed admission tickets to be purchased in advance at www.efm.org/tickets.

  • Can I still come in if I'm a little late?

    We recommend coming in as close to your designated entry time as possible to ensure we remain safely within the stated capacity of our public spaces.

  • Can I bring my own food and drinks?

    All food and beverages are strictly prohibited in the exhibit spaces: galleries, Critter Cove, Discovery Forest, etc. Outside food and beverages are not permitted in the cafe/retail spaces. Refillable water bottles are recommended while visiting; please use our water refill stations located throughout the museum. We encourage guests to utilize the vast property but ask that you are mindful of discarding waste appropriately.

  • Can I just buy a VR ticket?

    The Virtual Reality experience is part of the museum and requires museum admission.

  • Can I just buy a quarry ticket?

    Tickets for the stand-alone quarry dig experience will be available closer to May when the Quarry opens.

  • Did you REALLY discover dinosaur bones in Southern New Jersey?!

    Believe it or not, New Jersey is a globally important location for paleontology. The first Tyrannosaur skeleton ever found, the predatory Dryptosaurus, was discovered about a mile from our museum in 1866 in Gloucester County. The first nearly-complete skeleton ever found in the world was unearthed right in nearby Haddonfield, New Jersey. Our fossil bed at the museum has yielded more than 100 species of marine and land animals, including the remains of bus-length mosasaurs, marine crocodiles, sea turtles, bony fish, shark teeth, brachiopods, marine snails, and much more.

  • Is photography allowed?

    Personal photography using smartphones or non-professional cameras is permitted in the museum, we just ask that you refrain from using a flash, particularly in Critter Cove. For information regarding professional photography, please contact us at info@efm.org

  • Is there a bag policy?

    Purses and smaller, personal bags are allowed in the museum. The museum staff reserves the right to inspect any bags at any point in the museum visit.

  • Can I bring in a stroller?

    You are welcome to bring your stroller into the museum. We recommend using a smaller stroller if possible, as there are some narrower points throughout the museum journey. Please do not bring wagons into the museum.
